About

What DrafterDaily is for

Most coverage of a news story tells you what happened. There is usually a second question underneath it — why does this actually work the way it does, and what does it change? — that goes unanswered, because answering it takes longer and performs worse than a headline.

That question is our entire remit.

What we publish

A DrafterDaily article takes one story and explains the mechanism beneath it. When Reuters found Chinese military researchers training defence models on the outputs of American chatbots, the story was the finding; the useful part was why four years of chip export controls cannot address it, and what the four available enforcement options each fail to catch. When the Fed weighed a July rate decision, the story was the decision; the useful part was that the same June data reads 3.7% or 2.2% depending on which inflation gauge you pick, and that choosing between them moves benefits, tax brackets and mortgage rates.

We publish a handful of pieces a day across AI, business, crypto, finance, technology, sport and health. Deliberately a handful — the format does not survive being scaled up.

What we aim for

Sources you can check.Where a primary document exists — the filing, the paper, the dataset, the transcript — we work from it and link to it. Often the story starts with another outlet's reporting, and when it does we name them in the text and attribute the finding to them rather than presenting it as ours.

Numbers with their context. Effect sizes, sample sizes and dates, not just conclusions. Where credible sources disagree, we try to say so rather than pick the more dramatic figure.

The limits of the story. We try to be clear about what the evidence does not establish, not only what it suggests.

No advice. We explain research and public data. Nothing here is financial, medical, legal or tax advice, and our coverage of markets and health is written accordingly.

How we work

DrafterDaily runs an automated editorial pipeline: AI tools handle research monitoring and drafting, within a defined process that checks load-bearing facts against primary sources and rejects stories we have already covered. We would rather describe that plainly than have you infer it. The full method — including what the process will not do, and where its limits are — is set out in our Editorial Policy.

We are funded by advertising and affiliate commissions, never by paid coverage. See the Affiliate Disclosure.

DrafterDaily is published by DrafterDaily, an independently operated publication based in India, and is not affiliated with any of the companies or organisations it covers.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes, and we fix them in public. If you spot an error, email drafterdaily@gmail.com with the subject line “Correction” — you do not need to be an expert and you do not need to be polite about it. Our Corrections Policy sets out how we handle them.
